PETERS, Kenneth Raymond, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2009. Kenneth, the last of 10 siblings of Joseph and Hattie Peters (seven boys and three girls), was born in Aurora, Neb., June 30, 1918. The family moved to Fairfield, Iowa, when he was a teenager and joined the National Guard in 1939, which was activated throughout World War II in Europe . After the war, Kenneth married Margret (Dickie) Baird from Antrim, Northern Ireland, moved back to Iowa, went to school at Parsons College on the G.I. Bill and started a family. After college, Kenneth started his career as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Air Force, with many challenging assignments that included earning a master' s degree at Purdue University while teaching ROTC. After retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel in June, 1968, after 30 years total service to his country (National Guard, U.S. Air Force), Kenneth started teaching at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond , Va., then became the head of data processing for Henrico County, Va. During the summer of 1986, Kenneth and Dickie retired to Ridge Manor, Fla. Kenneth is survived by his wife of over 63 years; children, Winavere Peters (Reuben Lemons), Robert (Danielle), Robyn Ravalli (Charles) and Neal (Marisel); and three grand-children, Jennifer and Ryan Ravalli and Robert and Danielle' s son, Kip. A visitation will take place 4-6 p.m. Sunday, January 25, at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home, Dade City. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Heart Center Church of God, Lacoochee.
