Kathryn Hanlon Hallof NicholsKathryn Hanlon Hall, 102, of Cady Ave., passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 7, 2006. She was born on October 20, 1904 in Ridgebury Twp., Pa., a daughter of the late James Frederick and Lula (Halstead) Hanlon. She was a graduate of Elmira Free Academy, class of 1921, and in 1926 received her teaching certificate from Mansfield Normal School. Katie shared her love for knowledge by teaching in Binghamton at the Sight Saving School, and for many years taught in a one room schoolhouse in Friendsville, Pa. In 1926, she married Irving Hale Hall. He preceded her on January 1, 1991. Together they owned and operated Hallwares Wholesale in Nichols. She was a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church, Friends of Cady Library; an active supporter of the Kirby Band, where each year they presented the Irving Hall Award to an active participant. Katie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Ted Ronsvalle, Owego; her grandchildren, Jennifer Covey (Louis) McKeage, James Hall (Susan) Covey, Nelson (Sue) Ronsvalle, Noel (Cheri) Ronsvalle and Ted Ronsvalle; great-grandchildren, Patrick McKeage, James McKeage, Caitlyn Covey, Austin Covey, Danielle Genito, Sara Ronsvalle, Andrew Ronsvalle, Damonn Ronsvalle and Taylor Ronsvalle; a great-great-granddaughter, Madyson; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews also survive. Katie was predeceased by her husband, Irving; brothers, Howard, George, Frederick, Dr. Lawrence Hanlon; and sister, Inez Hanlon Stirton.Funeral services and celebration of her life will be held on Friday, November 10th, at 11 a.m. at the Nichols United Methodist Church, Main St., Nichols, with her Pastor, Rev. Daniel Martin, officiating. Interment will be in the Hanlon Hill Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Thursday evening, November 9th, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A period of visitation will also be held on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the church.
