WILSON, Kathleen Marie "Kathy" (nee Walsh) December 1, 1943 – December 14, 2014 Kathleen passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary the morning of Sunday, December 14, 2014 at the age of 71. Kathleen was born on December 1, 1943 in Regina, Saskatchewan. After completing her schooling in Regina, she studied nursing at the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, graduating in 1964. Her nursing career took her to Montreal, Quebec, Macon, Georgia, where her daughter was born in 1982, Grand Junction, Colorado (1985-1989), Kalispell, Montana (1989-2001), Regina, Saskatchewan (2001-2005) and back to Calgary where she finished her career in palliative home care, retiring in 2010. During those 46 years in nursing she touched many lives and made many friends along the way. Answering to the name "Cupa", she was an adoring and doting grandmother to her grandchildren. In the last three years she became a huge lacrosse fan, attending every single lacrosse game that her grandkids had and then counting down until the next Calgary Roughnecks game. She was one of the loudest fans in the stands. She was there for every goal the kids scored and was first in line to get a front row seat at the grandkids' school concerts. Kathleen is survived by her only child Melanie Burnsed; son-in-law Martin Burnsed; her grandkids Jaden, Kaleb and Gabby Burnsed; brother Ronald Walsh from Ottawa, ON; her nieces Kristina and Michele; and many cousins both in Canada and the United States. She was predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Melanie Walsh. Kathleen's Funeral Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Airdrie, 300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, Alberta) on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. A special thank you to Dr. Karima Ali, who went above and beyond what any other doctor did for her as well as the staff at Peter Lougheed Hospital and AHS EMS crew for their extraordinary care and support in her final hours. In living memory of Kathleen Wilson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
