Kathleen Vera Willoughby, née en 1925, fille de Bruce et Sybil, est décédée le 10 novembre 2016. Veuillez consulter son avis de décès ici:
WILLOUGHBY, Kathleen Vera November 24, 1925 - November 10, 2016 Kathleen slipped away peacefully just after lunch at the Gorge Road Hospital two weeks shy of her 91st birthday. Born in Victoria to parents Bruce Willoughby and Sybil (nee Cass), Kathleen was the youngest of three children who enjoyed the pleasures of rural life around Prospect Lake and extended family, her mother being one of originally seven sisters five of whom emigrated from the UK. 1930 was not a good year however as Kathleen lost her sister Molly followed soon after by mother Sybil. Bruce subsequently married Eulalie Harrison giving Kathleen the joy of further extending her family to the Harrisons and Oades. Later following high school and secretarial school, Kathleen accepted work with Canadian Pacific where she worked in various roles for over twenty years. In addition to family activities Kathleen enjoyed sewing, horseback riding, boating and travel as well as enduring friendships. She was a passionate gardener both on her own small acreage off West Saanich Road and as a long-time volunteer at Glendale Gardens (now H.C.P.). In 2010 Kathleen moved into assisted living at The Wellesley and made new connections and acquaintances. When visiting her we often found staff voluntarily saying how warm and friendly Kathleen was. Predeceased by her father, mother, step-mother, sister Molly, brother Jim (merchant seaman in WWII), close cousins from the Alexander clan (Peggy, Joan and Jack), and survived by her cousins Patrick Alexander (Brenda) in the UK, Anne Reeves (Peter) in Sydney, Australia, and extended family. The family would like to thank the caring and helpful staff at The Wellesley, Beacon Services and Gorge Road Hospital, as well as Dr. Philip Kelly and Charmaine Van Tine for their attentive assistance in recent years. It was Kathleen''s preference there be no formal service, but the family may have an informal gathering next Spring. Please contact a family representative if you wish to be advised. In lieu of flowers, Kathleen would appreciate donations to Parkinson Canada, H.C.P. or a charity of your choice.
