THOMSON, Ga. - Mrs. Kathleen (Kat) Sturkey Morris, 70, died Friday, February 25, 2011, in the Thomson Health & Rehab Center. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 27, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bruce McGahee officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Morris was a native of McDuffie County. She was retired from the Thomson Company and was a member of Thomson Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fonzie and Mary Sturkey, brothers, Fonzie Jr., Gene, Robert, and Bobby. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Nora (Bill) Britton, Augusta; her son, Mike Walker, Texas; her granddaughter, Sarah Britton, Augusta; four sisters, Mary (Bunyan) Langham, Gladys Keller, Agnes Brooks, and Rita Treadwell, all of Thomson; three brothers, Buck Sturkey, Billy Sturkey, and David "Bud" Sturkey; longtime friend and companion, Ernest Hester, Thomson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers will be Johnny Keller, Floyd Brooks, Darrell Treadwell, Benji Sturkey, Charles Keller, and Adam Sturkey.
