WEST SIMSBURY - Kathleen (Fitzgerald) Johnson, 86, of West Simsbury, formerly of Meriden, wife of the late Raymond H. Johnson, died on Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Waldo City General Hospital in Belfast, Maine after a brief illness. Born in Fall River, Mass., on May 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late David F. M. and Rose Cronan Fitzgerald, and had resided in Meriden most of her life. Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Hope High School, Providence, R.I., and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Dube and her husband, Matthew of Wallingford; two sons, Robert Johnson of Swanville, Maine, and David and Laraine Johnson of West Simsbury; six grandchildren, Danny Johnson, Brian Johnson, Melissa Lockhart, Ryan Murray, Greg Murray and Curtiss Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Cora Lockhart; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Cathy Johnson of Swanville, Maine. The funeral will be held on Friday, Dec. 5 at 11:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden and at 12 noon at St. Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Burial with military honors will be in State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the Mass from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. www.jferryfh.com
