WATERFORD Kathleen M. (Kate) Smith, 45, of Fairview Avenue, Waterford and formerly of Cohoes, passed away at Samaritan Hospital, Troy February 24, 2005 after a short illness. She was born in Troy and educated in Cohoes High School. She is the daughter of Mary F. Ellett Muzio of Cohoes and the late Joseph R. Muzio. She worked at Tobin & Dempf Law Firm in Albany for several years; Chicago Title, Albany; VanAlstyne Paper, Cohoes; and was secretary at the United Church of Cohoes. She was a member of the United Church of Cohoes and served as a deacon and a youth leader. She was a recovery group facilitator at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Albany. She was active in Troy Youth Bowling Assoc., was an avid bowler and an avid cat lover. Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband, Keith R. Smith of Waterford. Mother of Patrick R. Smith of Waterford. Sister of J. Richard Muzio of Latham, Stephen V. Muzio of Cohoes, Mary F. Dunn of Cohoes, Deborah A. Vore of Glenville, Alyce R. Desautels of Cohoes, Paul M. Muzio of East Greenbush, George A. Muzio of Cohoes, David W. Muzio of Latham, Julie A. Cone of Latham and Michael F. Muzio of Cohoes. Also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many, many friends, especially Gina TeBordo-Phillips, Ruth and Butch Koblensky. Funeral Monday 11:00 a.m. at the United Church of Cohoes with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made in Kathy's name to the American Cancer Society or the United Church of Cohoes.
