Kathleen M. Henderson, age 86, went to spend eternity with her Lord on September 23, 2008. She was born September 4, 1922, in Garden Township, Kansas, to George and Mimi (Tuter) Manis. Kathleen was a loving wife and mother as well as grandmother. She was employed by Lily Tulip Co. for 18 years. In addition to caring for her family, Kathleen enjoyed tending to her roses, sewing, cooking and reading. She made dresses for her daughter, granddaughters and great-granddaughters, as well as clothing for herself and various others. Her delicious homemade hot dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls will forever be remembered by her children and grandchildren during holiday gatherings, as well as yummy cream puffs and blackberry cobbler. A favorite of all the children was helping her make cut-out cookies and icing them for the Christmas season. One of her favorite stories to tell was when her great-grandson, Tanner, said "Granny, are you in there cookin'?" Kathleen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Mimi (Tuter) Manis; a baby sister, Sallie Manis; a brother, Donald Manis, who was killed during World War II; and granddaughter-in-law, Sandra Jean (Keightley) Stever. Kathleen is survived by her husband, William E. Henderson, to whom she was married on September 8, 1940; she also leaves a daughter, Judith and her husband, William Stever; three sons, Mark, Donald and his wife, Madeline, and Daniel and his wife, Sharon; brother Glen Manis and his wife, Laura; a sister, Karen Rogers and her husband, James; grandchildren, Gregory Stever, Sandra (Stever) Johnson and husband, Clint, Christopher Henderson, Jeffrey Henderson, Bradley Henderson, Brian Henderson and wife, Perri and Jill Henderson; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 11 a.m., in Rivermonte Chapel, with Rev. Clint Johnson and Rev. William Stever officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at 10 a.m. Burial will be held Monday, September 29, 2008, at 2 p.m., in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to purchase Bibles that will be sent to missionaries through B.E.A.M.S. (Bible Education and Missionary Service), http://www.beamsbibles.com/16.html.
