Kathleen J. Smith-Brown, 62, of Califon, N.J., died Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family. The visitation will take place on Thursday, Dec. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, 1761 Route 31, Clinton, N.J. There will be a funeral service held on Friday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home. The interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. She was the daughter of the late George T. and the late Amelia (Lang) Van Allen. She resided in Califon, N.J., for the past 37 years and previous to that, she lived in Piscataway, N.J. Kathleen was employed as a bank teller at the PNC Bank in Califon, N.J., for many years before retiring. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Kathleen loved road trips and especially enjoyed mapping out scenic destinations such as waterfalls. She loved children and provided baby sitting to many children in the area. Survivors include her husband, Richard Brown; her devoted children, Nancy Smith, Douglas Smith and Steven Smith; her sisters, Susan Jeffrey and Beverly Pilato; four stepchildren and seven step-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her twin sister, Karen North, in 2010.
