->AUGUSTA -- Kathleen H. Johnson, 75, of Melville Street died Friday, July 20, 2007, at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a brief illness.She was born in Randolph on Aug. 11, 1932, the daughter of Claude and Dora (Brown) Hanning.Mrs. Johnson was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church of St. Michael's Parish. She was also a member of AARP.Mrs. Johnson had been employed for many years as a chef/cook at St. Mary's Catholic School. She had also been employed for a time at Tschamler's Cards and Gift Shop and previously at Hudson Pulp and Paper Co., where she met her future husband, William.She enjoyed reading, quiet times at home, watching movies, working in her garden, enjoying the company of her grandchildren and traveling across the country. She was often called "Ma Johnson" and was known as a mother to the neighborhood.Survivors include six sons, William P. Johnson, Thomas P. Johnson and Jeffrey M. Johnson, all of Augusta, Christopher P. Johnson of Readfield, James F. Johnson and his wife, Nancy, of Sidney, and Robert R. Johnson and his wife, Tracy, of Leeds; a daughter, Kathleen (Johnson) Pyska and her husband, Jonathan, of North Monmouth; a daughter-in-law, Anne Marie Johnson of Fayette; two brothers, Lloyd Hanning and his wife, Myrtle, of Gardiner and Robert Hanning and his wife, Rita, of Randolph; three sisters, Myrtle Caswell and her husband, Maurice, of Randolph, Marilyn Christopolous and her husband, John, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Dorothy Butler of Jefferson; three grandchildren, Capt. Jason Pyska, Army, Christopher Sterling and Rebecca Sterling; a great-grandson, Jacob William Pyska; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.She was predeceased by her husband, Col. William A. Johnson, on Nov. 28, 1983; also a brother, Hubert Cecil Hanning; and three half-brothers, Clifford, Clifton and Chester Ericson.Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Augusta. A graveside committal service will take place 9 a.m. Tuesday at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
