Savannah Ms. Kathleen E. Smith, 55, died Monday night, Jan. 7, 2013, at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah after a brief illness. She was born in Savannah to Curtis C. Smith and Donna Helverson Smith. She made Savannah her home for most of her life. She loved the beach, gardening and animals. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Church with her family when she would visit Waycross. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Prissy Smith. She is survived by her longtime companion, Sammie Roberts of Savannah; her mother, Donna Sturgis and husband Howard of Waycross; six brothers, Andrew Smith and wife Sandy of Tomball, Texas, Christopher Smith and wife Julie of Patterson and David Smith, Paul J. Smith, James Smith and wife Geri and Dennis Smith and wife Vicki, all of Waycross; two sisters, Rosalind Weeks and husband Dave of Prince Frederick, Md., and Meg Sturgis of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Mass of the Resurrection is at noon Friday, Jan. 11 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waycross. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. Thursday at Miles-Odum Funeral Home in Waycross. A Rosary service will follow the visitation at 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Miles-Odum Funeral Home of Waycross.
