Kathleen Connolly Smith of Binghamton Kathleen Connolly Smith, 76, of Binghamton, died Monday morning, August 10, 2009, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital after a short illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Ethel Connolly; and her brother, Edward James Connolly. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Marshall E. Smith; her devoted children, Susan and Eberhard Fuchs, Sally and William Spalik, Kathy and Rick Pruden, Jim and Chris Smith, Michael and Marge Smith, Teri and Alex Eaton, Dan Smith, Ron and Kelly Smith; 28 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Sally Starkweather and Delores Smith; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, including Carolina from Kenya. She was a longtime member of St. James Church, Johnson City, and St. Christopher's Church. She enjoyed travel, especially her trip to Ireland. Special thanks to the ICU Unit at Lourdes Hospital and Dr. Spivak. Kay devoted her life to her family. Her love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was never ending. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Johnson City, Friday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton, Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Kay may be made to Lourdes Hospital Foundation, for use in the ICU Unit, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, NY 13905.
