CARTER, KATHLEEN (GEORGE), 67, of LaGrange, left us on Friday, June 13, 2014. After a long but relentless battle with a disease that slowly but surely took this life from her, Kathleen has gone home to that place prepared for her from the foundation of the world to which no one goes save for the love, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus the Christ. But for her family, her faith and the children she schooled, Oldham County has always been her first love. Born August 23, 1946 to Otto and Mamie Alice George, Kathleen is a 1964 Graduate of Oldham County High School, a summa cum laude graduate of Spalding University and received her master's degree in elementary education from the University of Louisville. She taught kindergarten at Second Presbyterian Church and Lure Elementary in Jefferson County. She and her husband John K. Carter were married August 4, 1967 at DeHaven Baptist Church in LaGrange by her father-in-law the Reverend John E. Carter and her pastor Dr. A.L. Meacham. Kathleen leaves behind her mother, Mamie Alice George (Roberts) of LaGrange; her husband of nearly 47 years, John K. Carter; the Oldham County Attorney, their two sons, John Matthew Carter and George Adam Carter; four grandsons, Joshua Riley Carter, Justin Nathaniel Carter, John Cameron Carter, Kaden Alexander Carter; and one granddaughter, Addison Taylor Carter. Kathleen will be sorely missed but her memory, her love and her goodness will remain with us until we shall shortly meet again. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at DeHaven Baptist Church with burial to follow in Valley of Rest Cemetery. Visitation on Sunday and Monday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial gifts to DeHaven Baptist Church in LaGrange or Okolona Baptist Church in Louisville.
