Kathleen C. Hoffman, 72, died Feb. 16, 2013, at Jersey City Medical Center. Visitation is Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Home, 374 Danforth Ave., Jersey City, N.J. Cremation is private. Mass will be offered for Kathleen at a later date in her home state of Massachusetts. Her ashes will be inurned in Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, at the convenience of her husband. Born Dec. 28, 1940, the daughter of the late Mary (Donaghue) and Joseph Cote, Kathleen was raised in Danvers, Mass., and moved to Jersey City 40 years ago. She received her B.A. in history from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, N.J., and was a member of the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth for 15 years. She received her M.A. in guidance counseling from Fordham University. She taught elementary school in South Boston for several years, then returned to New Jersey as a guidance counselor at St. Mary's High School, Jersey City, and Bayley-Ellard High School in Madison, N.J. After serving as manager of the Jersey City office of Kelly Service, she returned to education, working at the College of Saint Elizabeth, Hudson County Community College, St. Peter's College, and finally as director of the student support services program at NJIT for 17 years until her retirement in 2010. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Vincent Hoffman, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Please omit flowers. Donations may be made to Lupus Foundation at www.lupus.org.
