Kathleen Alma Estey Ostler (nee Jones), the youngest daughter of five siblings born May 6, 1923 to Frederick and Alma Jones in Moncton, NB has passed away peacefully on May 27, 2015 at Serenacare Nursing Home. She is survived by her six children, Dianne (Paul LePage), Marilyn, Kenneth, Robert, David (Kim) and Karen Ostler; nine grandchildren, Michelle, Lynne, Kara, Jonathan, Nathan, Lauren, Andrew, Emily and Alex; five great grandchildren, Sophie, Olivia, Maddie, Taylor, Benjamin and two more expected this summer; many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Oliver Ostler; one brother, George Jones; three sisters, Fredericka Riley, Connie Stewart and Florence Harvey. Kathleen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Kathleen was an honor graduate student from Moncton High School. Her dreams were to become a nurse until an Air Force airman, Ken Ostler, was posted to Moncton’s Air Force base from Toronto and new plans were formulated – marriage plans. Kay never did lose her love of caring for others or her love of education and as part of The Moncton Hospital staff for many years, she stayed close to patient care. She maintained responsible positions at the Main St. bank and T. Eaton Company Ltd. While her children attended school, she was an active member of her community. She enjoyed such sports as badminton, curling and swimming at the Bluff. She enjoyed playing the piano, doing puzzles and sewing. Kay had a natural creativity for cooking. Kathleen’s vision for life will be well remembered. She was in charge of her life until the end. A Memorial Service will be held for Kathleen at St. George’s Anglican Church Chapel, 51 Church Street in Moncton on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00 am, with The Rev’d Chris VanBuskirk officiating. Reception to follow in St. George’s Church basement. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery. Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital or to a memorial of the donor’s choice. Online condolences at www.fergusonsfuneralhome.com
