-><!-- DisplayFullObituaryText -->Collins, Kathleen A.S. Yarmouth, MA: Kathleen A. Collins passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the McCarthy Care Center in E. Sandwich, MA from complications of acute myeloid leukemia. She was born March 20, 1928 in Andover MA, the daughter of the late Raymond and Catherine (MacMaster) Lefebvre. She was predeceased by her husband, William F. Collins, great- grandson Jace William Collins, and sisters Claire Comeau and Joan Keohan. She is survived by her six children: William F. Jr (Mary Gunkel) of Elkhorn, NE; Ellen Collins-Boyce (C. O.L. Boyce) of Raleigh, NC; Mary K. (J. Christine Wilson) of Pittsford, NY; Joseph P. (Suzanne Fusini) of Brimfield, MA; Sean F. (Tracy O'Neil) of Winchester, MA; and Deirdre Collins-Caraher (Phil Caraher) of Chapel Hill, NC. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.Kathleen graduated from the former Punchard High School and the Melrose Hospital School of Nursing. She completed advanced training at the Albany Medical College in coronary care nursing. Throughout her 55 year career as a registered nurse she specialized in OB-GYN, ICU, CCU, and post-anesthesia nursing. She served as President of the Western Massachusetts Recovery Room Nurses Association, and was the founding director and President of the Massachusetts Society of Post Anesthesia Nurses. She was recognized by the former Governor Dukakis as one of the most highly trained coronary care nurses in Massachusetts. She retired from nursing after working in health care services at St. George's School in Newport, RI. Kathleen enjoyed her family, and organized numerous gatherings for family and friends. She was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed golf, bowling, travel and the many friendships she made. Wherever she lived she was always active in her parish, particularly in fund-raising to benefit Catholic schools. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to all her health care providers, particularly the staff at the McCarthy Care Center.There will be a celebration of Kathleen's life at 10 AM on Friday Jan. 9 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in South Yarmouth. Burial will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.Donations in Kathleen's memory can be made to St. Pius X Catholic School, 321 Wood Road, So.
