Katherine Lynn Patterson, 41, of Hillsborough entered her rest peacefully on Thursday, March 25, 2010 in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville. Private funeral services will be held at the Layton Funeral Home, 475 Main St., Bedminster, followed by interment at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the Pluckemin Presbyterian Church, 402 Route 202-206, Bedminster, on Saturday, May 15, at 11 a.m. Born in Fullerton, Calif., on June 12, 1968, Kathy was the oldest daughter of Fred R. and Roselyn Crenshaw Patterson. She had lived in Tustin, Calif.; Memphis, Tenn.; Hingham, Mass., and Bridgewater, N.J., before moving to her first home on her own in Hillsborough on March 3, 1998. Kathy attended the Jill Court Adult Training Center in Hillsborough, and previously, the Green Brook Adult Training Center in Green Brook. She was a member of Pluckemin Presbyterian Church. She loved music and swimming, and especially enjoyed travelling by car and eating out at restaurants. Kathy's life truly impacted the world around her, especially for those struggling with mental and physical disabilities. The love shared between parents and child inspired not only her parents, but many others as well, to advocate for the disabled in gaining greater dignity and quality of life. Kathy is survived by her father and mother, Fred R. and Roselyn C. Patterson of Bridgewater, and a sister, Barbara Ann Patterson of Santa Monica, Calif.
