Ryan, Sr. Katherine E. RSM ALBANY Sister Katherine E. Ryan, RSM (Sister M. Cecilia) died Sunday, December 17, 2006, at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A Sister of Mercy for 71 years. Sister served in elementary and high school education throughout the diocese and as chaplain at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. Born in Albany, Sister was the daughter of the late James and Mary Kearnes Ryan. She is survived by her sister, Rita Atkinson, and brother, Edward (Mary) Ryan, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sister Katherine was predeceased by her brothers, George and James and her sister, Margaret Weisner. Sister is also survived by the Religious Sisters of Mercy who wish to express sincere gratitude to the staffs at McAuley Residence and St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitations Center for the excellent care she received. Viewing hours will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, in the Chapel of the Convent of Mercy, 634 New Scotland Avenue, Albany. Relatives and friends are welcome and invited to attend a Prayer Service of Remembrance in the Chapel at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2006, in the Chapel. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. Contributions in memory of Sister Katherine may be made to the Sisters of Mercy, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
