>BREWER, Katherine Eve McKell, 76, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away Friday, March 9, 2007, in Dade City, Fla. Katherine was born July 15, 1930, in Oneca, Fla., where she grew up and attended school. She graduated in 1948 from Manatee County High School. She graduated in 1977 from Pasco-Hernando Community College, and she attended the University of South Florida, majoring in accounting. In 1949, she married Horace Brewer. They settled in Tampa, where she worked as executive secretary to the president of Herman Sausage Company. In 1966, they moved back to Oneca, where she worked as clerk to the justice of the peace of Manatee County, Fla. Katherine and her family moved to Zephyrhills, Fla. in 1971. She was co-owner of Zephyr Aluminum Works, Inc. She opened K.M. Brewer Realty in 1984. She was past president of the Zephyrhills Board of Realtors and Zephyrhills Multiple Listing Service. She was past treasurer of the Board of Realtors for several years and was on the board of directors. She was a past member of the Zephyrhills Democratic Club, Pasco Democratic Executive Committee and a delagate to the State Democratic Convention. Katherine served God singing in the choir, as a Sunday school teacher and as treasurer of Westside Baptist Church for many years. She was currently a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She is survived by three sons, Charles "Lawton" and Barbara Brewer of Decatur, Tenn., David Earl and Linda Brewer of Zephyrhills, Fla., and William "Billy" Brewer of Cullowhee, N.C.; grandchildren, Kenneth Brewer of North Liberty, Iowa., Jennifer Wood Christy Hamm, Jessica Brewer, Deborah Romano, Stacey Brewer, David Brewer II, all of Zephyrhills, Fla., William Brewer and Jason Brewer of Boise, Idaho, Christopher Coats of Michigan, Erin Burden of Gainesville, Fla., and Kelly Burden of Boise, Idaho; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet (McKell) and Fred Tolar; three sisters-in-law, Rosie McKell, Doris McKell and Francis Roberts; and a brother-in-law, "Toby" Brewer. She was also loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Brewer in August 2003. Fuenral services will take place 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at New Hope Baptist Church. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at Whitfield Funeral Home.
