Born Oct. 3, 1939, in Nor-wich, CT., Kat-herine moved to Highland City from New London. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her son, Melvin E. Allen, Jr. Survivors include her husband, Melvin Allen, two daughters, Sharon "Googie" Schwarzkopf, and Karen Hielscher, three sisters, three brothers, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Cathedral School, Norwich.
