Katharine C. Collinslongtime resident of Chelmsford; 89 CHELMSFORD -- Katharine C. Collins, 89, a longtime resident of Chelmsford passed away peacefully on April 24, 2014. Known to many as Kay or Aunt Gussie, she was the beloved wife of the late William J. Collins, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. She was born in Arlington, MA on February 17, 1925, daughter of the late William G. and Edna J. (Brine) Casey. Kay graduated from Watertown High School and then went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree from Simmons College. Kay and her husband were parishioners at St Mary's Parish in Chelmsford and members of the Chelmsford Swimming and Tennis Club. Kay was a member of the Chelmsford Garden Club, attended L.I.R.A. at UMass Lowell and was a member and former vice president of the Lowell College Club. Kay worked for many years as a realtor for Bradford O. Emerson Realtors, Inc.Kay is survived by her daughter, Joan E. "Joany" Collins and her spouse Karen M. Cleaves of Wells, ME, her sister-in-law, Bertha "Betty" Casey of Hopkinton, and many nieces and nephews, Mary Casey and husband Mark Caplan of Westborough, Michael Casey and wife Cindy of Canton, Martha Casey of Hopkinton, James Casey and wife Julie of Rockport, Robert Butler and wife Barbara of Arnold, MD, Carol Butler Boesch and husband Jeffrey of Middletown, RI, Mary T. Collins of Dennis, Martha Collins and Elizabeth "Lish" Collins of Lexington, Christine Desmond of Baltimore, MD, Mary Ann Ryan and husband Tom of Sunderland, Arthur Collins and wife Eleanore of The Villages, FL, William Collins of Mansfield and her many longtime friends. "Gramma Kay" will be especially missed by Sierra and Lydia Cleaves and their parents Adam and Jessica and their uncle Jonathan. She is predeceased by her brother and sister, William J. Casey and Janet Casey Butler.COLLINS -- KATHARINE. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4 to 8 pm at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11 o'clock at St. Mary Church, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford.
