Smith-Sfara, Karen M. ALBANY Karen M. Smith-Sfara, died Monday, May 27, 2013 in St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Albany, Karen was the daughter of the late Raymond and Dolores Mrozowski Smith. Karen was a graduate of Siena College. She was a regional sales manager for Robert Mondavi Winery, Oakville, Calif., retiring after 25 years of employment. Karen was a founding member of the Albany Chefs Food and Wine Festival. She was also vice president of the board and has raised $290.000 for Wine and Dine for the Arts. She also served on the board of The College of St. Rose, and the March of Dimes. Karen enjoyed reading, fashion and traveling. She was the beloved wife of Vincent R. Sfara; dear stepmother of Vincent R. Sfara II (Michelle) and Michelle A. Sfara-Brooks (Patrick); step-grandmother of Leo, Gianni, Samantha and Anthony; niece of Doris M. Smith and Evelyn Malek (Wally); several nieces, nephews, cousins survive, along with her beloved dog, Cristal. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at St. Peter's Hospital, especially the Second Floor for all their compassion, love and care extended to Karen during her time there. Funeral services Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow the Mass in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Thursday, May 30, 2013 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Parish of Mater Christi, Albany.
