Karen Grady Johnson, 55, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., after a valiant fight against lung and bone cancer. Karen was born on July 29, 1956, in Newark, N.J. She grew up in Boonton, N.J., and graduated from Boonton High School. Karen lived in Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., and Bricktown, N.J., before moving to North Carolina in 1993. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was loved by all who knew her. Karen was the wife of David B. Johnson and the mother of Andrew Lawrence. She is also survived by her parents, Thomas J. and Betty McLaughlin Grady of Morehead City, N.C.; her sister, Sue Cannon of Morehead City, N.C.; her brother, Tom Grady of Newport, N.C.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many dear friends. Services were handled by Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck, N.C. on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011. Condolences may be made on Facebook under Thomas Grady, Sr.
