Smith, Karen A.May 15, 1954 - Oct. 27, 2009Karen A. Smith, 55, of Sarasota, formerly of Marathon, died Oct. 27, 2009, surrounded by loved ones.A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the south end of Turtle Beach.Survivors include her partner of 15 years, Doug Harm of Sarasota and Marathon; son Justin Smith of Sarasota; daughter Rachel Smith of Sarasota; granddaughter Sky of Sarasota; father Donald Leitgeb of North Port; brothers Joe Leitgeb of Schenectady, N.Y., Don Leitgeb of Mount Arlington, N.J., and Steve Leitgeb of Westminster, Colo.; sister Ann Green of Asheville, N.C.; and many beloved friends.Karen was a free spirit, not to be contained. She was a licensed captain with a great sense of humor and a passion for sailing, fishing, snorkeling, travel and adventure.
