Karen A. Crall-Fallon of Ashburnham, research chemist; 50 ASHBURNHAM Karen A. Crall-Fallon, 50, of Ashburnham, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Massachusetts General Hospital, after a sudden illness. Karen leaves behind her husband, Donald J. Fallon; a son, Donald Hugh Fallon; her parents, Hugh C. and Jeannine M. (Casavant) Crall of Martha's Vineyard; and two sisters, Kathleen D. Wagenbach of Summit, N.J., and Jennifer M. McCormack of Carrabassett Valley, Maine. Her brothers-in-law are Jeffrey B. Wagenbach, James McCormack, and Richard Fallon. Karen will also be missed by five nieces, Alison, Jeannine and Elizabeth Wagenbach, and Meghan and Rylee McCormack. She also leaves behind her devoted nephews, Brian Wagenbach and Eric Fallon. Karen was born on April 9, 1958, in Niagara Falls, New York. She attended the Julie Country Day School in Leominster and graduated early from St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School as one of the first female admissions to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Karen obtained a B.S. in Physical Chemistry from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1984, and was awarded a Masters in Business Administration from Suffolk University in 1991. Karen worked at both Sanncor Industries in Leominster, and the Shipley Company in Marlborough, as a research chemist. Karen was very artistic and became a skilled crafter, gourmet cook, baker, and gardener. Her pride and joy was her son, Donald, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Karen's devoted husband, Donny. Karen traversed the country on a regular basis with her son, as well as her nieces and nephew. She made frequent trips to Boston to see the Red Sox and Celtics. The only place Karen refused to go was Giants Stadium. CRALL-FALLON Calling hours will be on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 18, from 9-10 a.m. at the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Family Funeral Home, (www.masciarellifamilyfuneralhomes.net), 243 Water St., Fitchburg. A Mass in celebration of Karen's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18th, at St. Bernard's Church, 240 Water St., Fitchburg. Interment will follow in the St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Donald H. Fallon Educational Fund, 92 Stodge Meadow Road, Ashburnham, MA 01430 or may be left at the funeral home.
