Mrs. Keturah Jackson of Daytona Beach was called home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Halifax Health Medical Center. A Homegoing Service will be Fri., Dec. 30th, 11 AM at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, Dec. 29th, 4-9 PM at RJ Gainous Funeral Home, Inc. The family will receive friends from 7-8 PM. Viewing will be from 9:30 am until service time at the church on Friday (Attire: wear white and a hat. Bring a nonperishable food item to the service for donation to the church food pantry). Mrs. Jackson was born in Daytona Beach, FL. She was a graduate of Boylan Haven All Girls Private School, Jacksonville, FL and attended Florida A & M University. Her parents were Rev. Albert M. and Beulah M. Watson who owned Watson Park Development where she worked as their bookkeeper. She was an entrepreneur, realtor and owner of Wimpy's Drive-In. Affectionately known as "Miss Kitty", she and W. Warren Thompson began life together and spent years together before his untimely death. This union was blessed with three children, Warren, Vernanchell and Malcolm. She was blessed with a second love, Lawrence R. Jackson who preceded her in death. Kitty had a gift of hospitality and a talent for making everyone feel at ease and at home. She was always going out of her way to help and feed those in need. Kitty loved music, dancing, reading, doing word searches, socializing, laughing and was a gift to all who knew her. She loved children, animals and her church family, especially her Angels of Faith. In the hearts of many, she will be missed, but her memory will always be cherished by her children ("her kittens"), William Warren Thompson, III, Keturah Vernanchell Thompson, Albert Malcolm Watson Thompson; grandchildren, Kristopher Mikel Smiley, Anthony Gregory Smiley, II, William Warren Thompson, III; her Yorkshire Terrier, "Rags"; nieces, Dr. Patricia Larkins Hicks (Clayton), Columbus, OH, Lisa Roe, Chicago, IL; adopted daughter and granddaughter, Zellie Cross (Homer), Renae Frank (Bios Tate), Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law, Jean Lovett (Adolph), Decatur, GA; cousins, Rosalyn Burrough, Renae Armstrong, Jacksonville, FL, Harold Lucas; godchildren, Gwendolyn Johnson, Bernard Capers, Dhand Presley, Dr. Herbert Corbin, Ft. White, FL, Alexander C. Wynn, III, William Campbell, Yvetter Hill, Tewanna Henderson, Tracy McClary, Tina Carlyle, Daytona Beach; an extensive extended family and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Food Pantry Ministry.
