KATIE (MORRIS) SMITHKatie Smith, born September 15, 1926, at Readlyn, SK to Romanian immigrants Cassandra and Frank and passed away peacefully March 4, 2015, in Saskatoon, SK. Katie is survived by children John (Carol), Brian, Sally (Kerry) Wisser; grandchildren Candice (Craig) Murray, Ryan Smith (Cara), Joel (Chelsea) Wisser, Laura (John) Cairns; sister Madelyn Schroeder and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband George, daughter Barbie, and grandson Jordan Wisser. Katie and George met at Pas Trail, SK in the 1930s, where their families homesteaded, and were married in 1946. They settled permanently in Saskatoon in 1965. Katie held numerous jobs over the years, in the service industry. She was a Legion auxiliary member and enjoyed bowling, bingo, and beer. Until last fall she could often be found visiting with friends at Market Mall. At the time of her passing, Katie resided at Simona's Personal Care Home and the family is grateful for the care provided to her there. At Katie's request, in lieu of a funeral service, there will be a Come-and-Go Tea to share memories and celebrate her life, Saturday, March 7, 2015 between 2 and 4 p.m. at 3003 Calder Court, Saskatoon.
