Katherine Daniel Crowe, a longtime resident of Mt. Kisco, passed away on July 23, 2009. Born on August 24, 1928 in Hyannis, MA, she grew up on Cape Cod. In 1950, she graduated summa cum laude from Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA. She received a Master's in Medical Technology from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI in 1952. That same year, she married George J. Crowe. When their children were older, Kassa went back to school and earned a Master's in Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College in New York City in 1986. George and Kassa were happily married for 54 years; he died in 2006. A parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Kassa served as a Eucharistic Minister. She worked as a preschool teacher for various preschools in the area, most recently for twelve years at the Mt. Kisco Child Care Center. She will be remembered for her love of family and children. Kassa is survived by her children; Maryellen (Paul) DesForge, John Crowe, Margaret (Milton) Laurie, Kathleen Podmaniczky, Elizabeth (Stan) Segal, George (Gorete) Crowe, Daniel (Marilyn) Crowe, Teresa (Peter) Schaefer, Patrick Crowe, Nancy Crowe, and Susan Crowe; and by her 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours are Monday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the funeral home. Mass is 10AM Tuesday at St. Francis Church, to be followed by Burial at St. Francis Cemetery.
