JULIA PETERSON MERRITT ISLAND Julia W. Peterson, 90, of Merritt Island, died Friday, December 23, 2005 at Health Center of Merritt Island. She was a native of Ohio and graduated from Middle port(Meigs County) High School in 1933. She attended Colum bus(OH) Business College, Morris Harvey(WV) College, and Salem(WV) College. She was in the U.S.M.C. during 1944-1945, and the U.S. M.C. Reserve from 1947-1949 and attended school on the GI Bill. Mrs. Peterson held numerous administrative and clerical posi tions throughout her working career with the United Fuel Gas Co., Union Carbide Corporation and the State of West Virginia. She was active in the National Secretarys Association and the Civitan Club, Charleston, WV. In 1977 she retired and relocated to Florida where she was in the Merrit Island Womens Club, the Central Brevard Newcomers Club , and the Spaceport Chapter of the Women Marines Association. She was a communicant of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Merritt Island. Her husband of eight years, James Schilansky, and her hus band of 25 years, Bernard F. Sweeney, and her husband of 25 years Harold Peterson pre ceded her in death. Her survivors include step daughter, Linda S. Peterson of New Hope, MN; stepdaughter, Jane S. Rife of Grove City, OH; stepson, Dr. Patrick Sweeney of Montgomery, AL. In addition she leaves three step grandchil dren and one step great grand son. Special thanks for the com passionate care of Health First Private Duty, Hospice of Health First, and the Health Center of Merritt Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, or a local chapter of the American Heart Associa tion. Services will be held at 11a.m., Friday January 13th, at the Divine Mercy Chapel and burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park in St. Albans, WV at a later date.
