Bowdon, GA - Miss Julia Opal Hyatt, of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away on August 6, 2012 at Memory Lane Assisted Living. She was 90. Miss Hyatt was born on May 2, 1922 to the late Pleas Woodard and Alice S. Pirkle Hyatt. She retired from Sewell Manufacturing Company and was a faithful member of Ranburne Baptist Church. She had a wide open heart and a great love for God, her church, and her family and friends. Her nieces and nephews were her life and she will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Roy J. Hyatt and Daisy A. Jordan and her nieces, Wanda Sue Hyatt and Jeanette Cobb. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Glenn H. and Jennie B. Hyatt, of Ranburne; her nieces and nephews and their spouses, Sherrie and Jerry Musick, of Ranburne, Judy and Charles Davenport, of Bowdon, Bruce and Lura Hyatt and Garry and Elaine Hyatt, also of Ranburne, and Peggy and Max Crook, of Buchanan, Ga.; and a number of great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. (Georgia Time) at Ranburne Baptist Church. The Rev. James Benefield and the Rev. Jerome Mitchell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bruce Hyatt, Garry Hyatt, Jeff Dearman, Wade Janney, Dylan Janney, and Scott Dearman. Honorary pallbearers will be Sybil Fowler and Bertha Mae Field. Prior to the services, Mrs. Hyatt's body will lie-in-state at the church from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on tonight, August 8, 2012, from 5 until 8 p.m. (Georgia Time).
