Funeral service for Julia Mae Parrish Jones, 99, North Garfield Ave., DeLand, who died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, in Marietta, Ga., will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel, DeLand, with Mr. Cletus Stutzman and Mr. Bill Fugerer officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery following the service. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 2, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, DeLand. Mrs. Jones was born in Montgomery, Ala., October 20, 1906, and moved from there to this area in 1922. She was a 1925 graduate of DeLand High School, attended David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., and graduated from Stetson University, DeLand. She was retired as a public school teacher for Volusia County in DeLand. She was a charter member of the Spring Garden Avenue Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a past member of the Azalea Garden Circle, DeLand, member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, former member of Lake Beresford Yacht Club, and a sustaining member of the Junior Service League of DeLand. Survivors include her daughter, Jane Burton Ream, Marietta, Ga.; granddaughter, Mary Ann Ferguson Nusbaum, Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandsons, R. Steve Ream, Cumming, Ga., Randy Kenneth Ream, Dothan, Ala., David Russell Ream, Mabelton, Ga., and Brian Wesley Ream, Marietta; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her grandsons will be pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Hall, David Hammontree, Robert Brown, Dr. William Carter, Jack Veech and William Duff. Memorial donations may be made to Christian Home and Bible School, 301 West 13th Ave., Mount Dora, FL 32757. Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home, DeLand, is in charge of arrangements.
