->OAKLAND -- Julia Alice (Zimba) Libby, 89, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at the MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville.She was born in Fairhaven, Mass., on Dec. 14, 1918, the daughter of Lawrence and Joanna (Wojnarowska) Zimba. Julia attended Oakland schools, graduating from Williams High School.Julia worked at the Diamond International Corp. in Oakland then at Pratt & Whitney Co. in Connecticut during World War II. She then returned to Oakland where she was a spinner at the Cascade Woolen Mill for many years.Her family was the most important thing in her life. She enjoyed going out for coffee in many local restaurants with her friends.Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Libby Sr.; and two sons, Claire Libby and Clarence Libby Jr.Surviving are two sons, Cleba Libby of Oakland, and Glen Libby of Dexter; a daughter, Linda Howard of China; a brother, Stanley Zimba of Oakland, a sister Stella Brown of Benton; 10 grandchildren, Keith Howard, Cynthia Pierce, Peter Libby, Kimberly Harper, Mark Libby, Lisa Libby, Tina Libby, Brett Libby, David Libby, and Elizabeth Libby; two nephews, Chip Brown and Lawrence Zimba; many great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.Friends are invited to visit 7-9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland, where a funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade.
