Juanita Burnsed Hendrix Smith - Savannah -Juanita Burnsed Hendrix Smith, 92, of Savannah, Georgia, died Saturday morning, January 13, 2007, at Hospice Savannah. Born in Bulloch County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Lemuel Grady Burnsed and Naomi McElveen Burnsed Donaldson. Mrs. Smith was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class. She retired from the Chatham County District Attorney's office after 30 years of service. She also served as a secretary to the Grand Jury during most of her years with the District Attorney's office. Mrs. Smith was a member and served as Treasurer for many years of the Professional Secretary's Association. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Amity Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was named Secretary of the Year for her chapter in 1959. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Judge Jerrell T. Hendrix, and three brothers, L. G. Burnsed, Herbert Burnsed, and Willie R. Burnsed. Surviving are one sister, Betty B. Coursey and her husband, Vernon, of Pooler; one brother, Olin L. Burnsed, Sr. and his wife, Mary, of Savannah; one sister-in-law, Martha Burnsed of Savannah; her granddaughter, Jay Jay Hendrix Flaherty and her husband, Gabe, of Richmond Hill, and four great- grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson venue. Funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Allan W. Bosson and The Reverend Jerry L. Claxton. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East. Pallbearers will be nephews.
