Joyce P. Cox GREER, SC-- Joyce Pittman Cox was greeted into heaven by her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 27, 2011. Joyce was the daughter of the late Claude M. and Jessie Ruth McAbee Pittman. Born in Pelham, SC, she was retired from RBC Liberty Life Insurance with 39 years' service. She was a member of Pelham First Baptist Church where she served as Recording Secretary, Bible Fellowship Teacher, WMU Director, and choir member. Joyce had a passion for missions and had served in various offices of the Greer Baptist Association WMU and the Women's Missionary Union Auxiliary to the South Carolina Baptist Convention. In addition to her husband, Frank D. Cox, she is survived by two brothers, Layton (Linda) Pittman and Claude M. Pittman, Jr.; two sisters, Barbara (Bob) Dorman and Kay (Wallace) Ladd; a special nephew, Barry (Debbie) Pittman; two special nieces, Dallas Pittman and Dayley Pittman; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by a special sister-in-law, Vicki Pittman. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, March 29, 2011, in the parlor of Pelham First Baptist Church from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM. The funeral service will be held at Pelham First Baptist Church on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 4:00 PM with Dr. Gary Rogers, Dr. Kirt Mitchell, and Conan Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park. The family request that memorials be made to the Family Life Center Fund, Pelham First Baptist Church, 2720 Old Highway 14 South, Greer, SC 29650.
