Joyce M. Clark Beloved wife, mother, grandmother GORHAM - Joyce M. Clark, age 80, of East Lake Road, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at F.F. Thompson Hospital, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, George Clark; two daughters, Lynette Mott and Karen (David) Sorce; three grandsons, Aaron (Emily) Mumby, Chris Mumby (fiance Meghan Hammer) and Kyle Megaffee; five great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Quinn, Taylor, Jacob, and Jace; niece, Joanne Smith; nephew, David Austin; great-nephew, Michael Smith; great-niece, Grace Austin; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Vincent DeZetter; sister, Marilyn Austin; and nephew, James Austin. Joyce was born in Albion, N.Y. and was the daughter of E. Vincent and Florence (Eagan) DeZetter. She attended school in Barre Center, N.Y. and graduated from Albion High School in 1949. Joyce attended Fredonia State University for three years and graduated from Geneseo State University in 1953, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Pi. On August 17, 1952, she and George were married in Barre Center. Joyce taught school in Rushville for 29 years, mainly first grade at Marcus Whitman Central School. She was an active member of Rushville United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years. Joyce loved participating in many musical activities, including the Precious Few, Crooked Lake Fiddlers and Fort Hill String Band. She also performed with the Finger Lakes Symphony for four years. Joyce gave private piano and violin lessons. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, 22 N. Main St., Rushville. Interment will be in Rushville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to F.F.
