MANCHESTER - Joyce H. Williams, 51, of Manchester, Vermont, and formerly of Endwell, New York, closed her earthly kitchen on March 25, 2014. Joyce was a graduate of Maine-Endwell High School and The Culinary Institute of America in Poughkeepsie, New York. Joyce was the heart and soul of the Williams family. She is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Russell and Ann Williams of Owego, NY, and her maternal grandmother, Helen Davis of Endwell, NY. She is survived by her mother, Bonnie Holbrook and husband, Brent of Fulton, NY; her father, Russell Williams and wife, Renee of Apalachin, NY; sister, Anne Smith and husband, Michael and daughter, Carley of Endicott, NY; chosen sisters, Jill Allen and son, Sam of Dewitt, NY; Amy Malec and husband, John and children, Matthew and Lauren of North Syracuse, NY; and maternal grandfather, Ward Davis of Endwell, NY; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Joyce's first love was stretching the boundaries of normal. Dull and boring behavior was not accepted - "Let it rip." She delighted in cooking up a storm and making sure it was served in perfect style and taste. Her last earthly assignment was as Chef at the Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont, where the meal was never finished until you smiled. Her brightest and most free moments came on the winding back roads of Vermont, on her Yamaha Black Beauty motorcycle, where she leaned in to every turn and always gave it just a little more throttle coming out. She was a free spirit in full bloom. Her sense of humor will be painfully missed. On behalf of the entire Williams family, we wish to express our deepest appreciation to Dr. Allen Eisemann and his dedicated medical team, to the doctors and nurses and Palliative Care staff at Rutland Regional Medical Center, who provided extraordinary care for Joyce throughout her long and difficult journey. We are so grateful to all the family and friends who traveled this road with us. We will be eternally grateful for your constant words of encouragement and unending support. We are especially grateful for her personal prayer team leaders, Aunt Sally, Aunt Mary, Cousin Peggy and Patty. And a special note of thanks to Joyce's best friend in Vermont, Kristen Matuscik and her family. Kristen was always there for Joyce, wherever and whenever needed. We have lost our battle with cancer, but we will go forward with a lifetime of good memories and good family and friends at our side. Per Joyce's request, there will be no calling hours or services. Joyce asks you to embrace the ones you love and be kind to all. One of her greatest wishes was to help those traveling the same difficult journey. Donations may be made in Joyce's memory to the Foley Cancer Center, 160 Allen Street, Rutland, VT 05701.
