ObituaryJoyce Elaine Miller (Grandma), only child of Elfreda Holness was born in St. Andrews, Jamaica West Indies on June 17, 1934. Joyce departed this life on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Joyce attended Wolmer's Girl School in Kingston, Jamaica, then York & Hunter Colleges in New York. She later earned her degree in geriatric Nursing from BMCC. She worked as an emergency room Nurse at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital until her retirement in 1988. She married to Curlew Joslyn Miller, who preceded her in death on May 8, 2002, a union that produced seven children.Joyce will be remembered for her love of God, life, and family. Her love of cooking, sewing and knitting endeared her to many. Joyce was well known for the succulent dishes she prepared and bestowed upon friends and family. A natural born socialite, she would do almost anything for anyone she knew. If she had nothing material to offer, she gave wonderful smiles, hugs and words of encouragement and empowerment freely. To know Joyce is to love her. Her presence exuded vitality and vibrance, which was contagious. Affectionately known as "Trouble", "Mama" or plain "Grandma", she was loved by everyone that she came in contact with.She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Milton (Carlene), Horace (Claudette), Clive (Marie), Rupert, Joy, Robert (Vangie) Jennifer; grandchildren, Lisa (Shawn), Steve, Nekoro, Julie, Natasha, Chantal, Jason, Carlene, Rachel, Shawn, Richard, Jason, Kadeem, Shane, Brea, Cameron, Jessica, Kerri, Marcus, Demetrius; great-grandchildren; Tiana, Donovan, Tiara, Amanda, DeAndre niece and nephew, Wayne and Keisha; also a host of other relatives and friends.From the Miller Family; we wish to thank everyone for every act of kindness during our hour of bereavement.
