Joyce was born on August 24, 1936 in Bluefield, Virginia to William and Grace McMahan of Swannanoa. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth R. Candler Sr., and Clearance E. Davis, son David L. Candler and a brother Ralph McMahan.Joyce was employed by the Owen family at Charles D. Owen Mfg. Co., and retired after 32 years of service. Joyce loved spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren play softball. She loved working in her yard and taking care of her beautiful flowers.Joyce is survived by a son; Kenneth R. Chandler, Jr, daughter; Donna.Cole, grandchildren; Heather Duncan, Kim Fisher, Crystal Cole, April Cole, Colton Candler, and great-grandchildren; Katelyn Duncan, Samantha Duncan and Cambria Fisher. Joyce also leaves behind countless friends who meant the world to her.A memorial service will be held at Brigman's Funeral Service in Black Mountain on Sunday, June 3 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the funeral home. The Reverends Frank Cantrell and James Lamb will deliver messages of comfort. Flowers are accepted and appreciated or donations can be made in Joyce's name to Care Partner's Hospice.
