Joyce Collett (May) Williams of Charlotte, NC formerly of Binghamton Joyce Collett (May) Williams, of Charlotte, NC and formerly of Binghamton, NY, passed quietly into the arms of the Lord on January 5, 2010, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer, her two daughters by her side. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, John Brinley Williams. Joyce is survived by two loving and devoted daughters, Ellen Pierce (Mint Hill, NC), and Dianne Cabot (Woodbridge, VA); and her grandchildren, Hilary and Jason Schultz; and great-granddaughter, Lily Love (Aurora, CO), Katharine Pierce (Mint Hill, NC), Devon Cabot (New York, NY), Meaghan Cabot (Charlottesville, VA) and Zachary Cabot (Blacksburg, VA). Joyce will lovingly be remembered by her brothers, Donald May with sister-in-law, Shirley and family (Terrytown, NJ), and Robert May with sister-in-law, Helga and family (Marin County, CA). Mrs. Williams came from a family of proud military service and was, herself, a WWII Navy, WAVE, veteran who served her country at Ft. Cheltonham, MD as a Radioman, 3rd Class. She is a dual member of American Legion Post and Unit 364, Woodbridge, VA. Mrs. Williams is also a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, Mint Hill, NC. The family wishes that, in lieu of flowers, a charitable contribution in Joyce's name be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 2661 West Roosevelt Blvd, Suite 104, Monroe, NC 28110. Our dearly loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will be forever in our hearts and forever in our prayers. A service from the graveside will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2009, at Sunset Memory Gardens, Charlotte, NC. Arrangements by McEwen - Mint Hill Chapel.
