Funeral service for Joy Campbell, 59, Ormond Beach, who departed this life at home Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach. The family will receive friends Thursday at the church from 5:30 p.m. until service time. Joy was born March 26, 1947, in Circleville, Ohio, and moved to Florida in 1969 with her husband, Archie Harrison, who predeceased her in 1977. Her mother, Virginia Mccombs, died in 2003, and her father, Lloyd McCombs, died in 2004. Joy was owner of Hitch City and Storage, Ormond Beach, and had operated Howdy Girls Park'n during Bike Week events for many years. She was a member and greeter at First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach and was very interested in missions. She made several trips to Brazil with First Baptist teams and mission trips to aid Hurricane Katrina relief in Siddell, La. She enjoyed working with wood and rebuilt her own home after Hurricane Frances in 2004. She loved to make embroidery gifts and sew with her niece, Tami Fry, Westerville, Ohio. Survivors include two sons, Archie Harrison and Lonnie Harrison, both of Holly Hill; stepdaughters, Carol Ledeau, Lake View Terrace, Calif., and Becky Gilmore, Austin, Texas; sisters, Phyllis Huffman, The Villages, and Louise Webb, Mount Vernon, Ohio; brothers, Emory McCombs, Marion, Ohio, Lester McCombs, Sparta, Tenn., and Bernard McCombs, Radnor, Ohio; stepmother, Bea McCombs, Ormond Beach; stepsisters, Rosemary Farmer, Ocala, and Penny Music and Linda Johnson, both of Mt. Airy, N.C.; stepbrother, Tom Nelson, Union City, Ohio; grandchildren, Brandee Harrison, Emilee Stagmer and William Platt Harrison; nieces; nephews; cousins; and all her brothers and sisters in Christ, First Baptist Church, Daytona Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations suggested to either the Missions Fund or the Building Fund, c/o First Baptist Church, 118 N. Palmetto Ave., Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Ormond Beach, is in charge of arrangements.
