PETERS - Josephine Peters passed away with family members by her side on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at the age of 77 years. She is survived by: two daughters, Charmaine (Brent) Houghton of Wetaskiwin, AB and Patty (Dave) Thiessen of Watrous, SK; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Ben ~ fiance), Kristen, Kyle and Kendra; three brothers, Sylvester Dirks, Arthur (Mabel) Dirks and Rueben (Lois) Dirks; two sisters, Martha (Ernest) Lepp and Viola (Raymond) Thomson; one sister-in-law, Vern Dirks; many nieces, nephews and friends. Josephine was predeceased by: her husband, Edwin Peters; parents, Jacob and Susanna (Luetke) Dirks; sister, Elsie Strobel; brother, Menno Dirks; brother-in-law, Walter Strobel; and sisters-inlaw, Matilda Dirks and Nellie Dirks. "Josie " was born September 6, 1927 on her parents homestead near Waldheim, SK. As a young adult she attended and graduated from Miller Memorial Bible Institute in Pambrun, SK. During those years she sang and travelled with several singing groups. Mom's love of singing continued through-out her life. She was always willing to lend her voice where it was needed and, on her own, could always be heard humming a tune. On July 25, 1958 she married her life-long sweetheart, Edwin Peters. To this union were added two daughters whom they loved and raised together. Josie was a "homemaker " in the truest sense of the word. She chose to give her time cheerfully to cooking, cleaning, sewing, gardening and the raising of her children. She took pride in the keeping of her home and enjoyed entertaining. Her love of family, friends and church was shown by the time she gave to each one. Josie has left behind a legacy rich in faith, love and hope all the result of her deep and abiding walk with the Lord. While we mourn the loss of our dear Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend, we do not wish her back. She is at peace now in the presence of her Saviour. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday January 31, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1636 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon.
