Funeral service for Josephine Mary Thompson, DeLand, who died Thurs., July 26, 2007, at Woodland Terrace, DeLand, after a long illness, will be 11 a.m. Sat., Aug. 4, at Lankford Funeral Home, 220 E. New York Ave., DeLand, with viewing from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will be at DeLand Memorial Gardens, DeLand. Mrs. Thompson was born March 12, 1914, in Ponieve, Austro-Hungary. In 1921, she came to the United States with her mother after World War I and settled in Cleveland, Ohio. In her earlier years, she had studied for and became a cosmetologist. After World War II, she moved with her family to DeLand where she and her brother, Frank Rodica, developed a family business. A member of Stetson Baptist Church, she is survived by her son, Michael Amber, Temple City, Calif.; two grandchildren, Celeste Montague, Phoenix, Ariz., and Michael Amber II, Manhattan Beach, Calif.; and great-grandson, Jordan Amber. Arrangements are under the care of Lankford Funeral Home, DeLand.
