<!-- FH = Meadors Funeral Home, Billings -->Josephine Jean WalkerMrs. Josephine Jean Walker, age 93, passed peacefully in her sleep Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Manor Care in Springfield, Missouri. She was born September 6, 1917, in Billings, Missouri, to Ben and Louise Borman. She graduated high school and pursued a teaching degree from Springfield Teacher's College (now MSU). She taught elementary 12 years.Josephine married Glen H. Walker July 13, 1940; he preceded her in death, October 24, 1977. They raised two children, Robert and Jeanne, and moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where Josephine taught 3rd grade at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School. In 1959, the family moved to Piedmont, Missouri, where Glen was Project Engineer at Clearwater Lake and Josephine substituted both elementary and secondary levels. Their residence at the lake was enhanced with varieties of flowers and gardens, planted and cared for by Josephine's hands. Her parents, and her sister, Bennie Marie Rice of Denver, Colorado, preceded Josephine in death.Josephine moved to Springfield after her husband's death, bought a small house near St. John's Hospital, and again planted many flowers in her front yard. Several people, as they drove by her house, would stop and admire them. She volunteered more than 1700 hours service to St. John's Hospital. As Alzheimer's became more evident, she moved to Magnolia Square for six years, and finally after hospitalization, she took residence at Manor Care where she spent her remaining days. A big thank you goes to the care and love shown by Hospice and the staff of Manor Care.Josephine is survived by her two children, "Bob and Jeanne," Jeanne's spouse Karl Kruger and Bob's daughter Katrina (Walker) Godfrey, all from Springfield and Billings. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Tim Kruger (wife Elisa), Dan Kruger, Ben Kruger, (wife Leann), Noel (Kruger) McDonald, (husband Steve), and Katrina (Walker) Godfrey (husband Tito). In addition, there are four great-grandchildren, with one more to be born in August, plus three step great-grandchildren.Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Meadors Funeral Home in Billings. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2011 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, both in Billings.
