Baker, Josephine GUILDERLAND Josephine Baker, 98, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cambridge, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Nilo. Mrs. Baker worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 25 years before her retirement. She was an active member of the Guilderland Senior Citizens where she enjoyed needlecraft, Tuesday luncheons and going on day trips. Josephine was an avid reader and enjoyed music, dance and traveling. She especially loved spending time with her loving family. Josephine was the beloved wife of the late Robert Baker for 65 years until his passing in 1998. She is the devoted mother of Robert (Sandra) Baker of Oswego, Marion (the late Edmund) Blanchet of Slingerlands, Donald (Donna) Baker of S.C., Thomas (Carolyn) Baker of Selkirk, Susan Baker of Fla. and Bruce (Annabelle) Baker of Guilderland. Josephine is the sister of Helen Decaro of Conn., Joseph Nilo of Texas and the late Anthony and Dusty Nilo and Ann Cramer. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grand children and five great-great-grandchildren. Her family would like to thank the staff at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home for all of the love and care they gave to Josephine during her stay. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
