NORTHPORT Joseph Ronald "Ronnie" Manuel, age 67, of Northport, died Jan. 8, 209, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. John Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Sunset Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.His son, Terrance Lee Manuel, his parents, Lazime and Eula Manuel, and his brother, Merlin Manuel, preceded him in death.Survivors include his wife, Leola "Pinkie" Manuel; and his son, Terrell Brent Manuel (Mary Ann).Mr. Manuel was a loving husband, a great day and a beloved father-in-law whose life touched many, many people. He was selfless with his time spending countless hours working with senior citizens, coaching youth baseball and working with youth groups at church.He worked most of his career in the oil and gas industry before becoming an independent truck owner/operator driving cross country. He retired in 2003.We were blessed to have had him in our lives, and we will miss him very much.Pallbearers will be Paul Turnage, Joe Perkins, Gary Bryant, and Quinn Turnage.Honorary pallbearers are Joy Sunday School Class, Five Points Baptist Church, Dr. bob Grubbs, Dr. Albert White, Vicki Carter, Darrell Snipes, DCH Home Health workers, nurses and staff on floors five and six at DCH Regional Medical Center, and special friend the Paul Turnage family.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to West Alabama Aids Outreach, 2720 6th Street, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
