Joseph (J.) Paul Doherty II of N. Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Lowell; 72 NORTH FORT MYERS, FL Joseph (J.) Paul Doherty II, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 16, 2009.He was born in Lowell, MA, on March 8, 1937 to parents Rosella (McCabe) and Joseph P. Doherty.He was educated in the Lowell school system and served in the US Navy.He moved to Southwest Florida in 1991 and opened J. Doherty's Barber Shop in North Ft. Myers.J. Paul was survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Joan (Roscoe) Doherty and by his children and their spouses, Jan and Jack Adie, (Mansfield, MA), Joseph and Thea Doherty (Mansfield, MA), Lisa Brown and Terran Higgs (Pelham, NH), David and Melissa Doherty (Wilmington, MA), Kristin and Manny Quinones (Cape Coral, FL) and Kevin and Tiffany Doherty (Cape Coral, FL).He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and his sisters Nancy Gagnon and late brother-in-law Robert Gagnon (N. Chelmsford, MA), Jan Lekites and brother-in-law Robert Lekites (Lowell, MA) and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Albert and Diane Roscoe (Nashua, NH). The family wishes to thank all the staff at Hope Hospice (Cape Coral) for their unfailing support in our time of grief. DOHERTY In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be madein his honor to Hope Hospice,2430 Diplomat Pkwy East, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
