Joseph-P. Hartigan, né en 1936, conjoint de Lorraine-T. Hartigan, père de Erin, Sean, Dennis et Carolyn, est décédé le 22 juin 2005 à l'âge de 69 ans. Veuillez consulter son avis de décès ici:
Joseph P. Hartigan, 69, Ormond Beach, husband of Lorraine T. Hartigan, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005, after failing to recover fully from a November 2004 automobile accident. Born May 19, 1936, in Meriden, Conn., Joseph graduated summa cum laude from Providence College in 1958 with a B.A. in Mathematics and married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine, in September of that year. He earned an M.A. in mathematics from the University of Connecticut in 1960 and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. After being discharged, Joseph moved to the Daytona Beach area with Lorraine in 1963 to take a position as an engineer in General Electric's Command Systems Division, supporting the space program. He subsequently received a master of engineering from the University of Florida. Known as "Gramps" to his six grandchildren, Caitlin, Erin, Michael, Eamon, Daniel and Finn, Joe was first and foremost a family man. He came from a large Irish family and loved sharing time with his four sisters, Peggy, Kathy, Beth and Terri, and their families. He was an avid camper and hiker whose most beloved memories were made with his family and friends in the Great Smoky Mountains, the Grand Canyon, Acadia National Park, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. In addition to exploring the outdoors, Joe enjoyed jogging, golf, tennis, bowling and basketball. Joe was a lifelong baseball fan who was MVP of the 1948 Moose Little League. He always cheered on the St. Louis Cardinals, and once in Florida, he took up the cause of the sometimes spectacular - but often hapless - Miami Dolphins. He lived simply, worked hard and had a deep faith in God that he expressed through his many charitable contributions. Joseph's legacy continues on in the lives of his children, Carolyn, Dennis, Sean and Erin. He made a difference in people's lives, and will be missed. A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Joseph P. Hartigan will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Calling hours begin at 9:30 a.m. the same day in the Church chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to any of the charities to which Joseph gave so generously during his lifetime: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), Christian Foundation for Children and Aging (www.cfcausa.org) and Food for the Poor (www.foodforthepoor.org). Condolences may be made via the family guest book at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
