BROUSSARD - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville for Joseph L. "Jay" Hebert, 75.Jay was born Monday, Nov. 10, 1930 in Youngsville, La. and went to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.Entombment will follow at St. Anne Catholic Church Mausoleum in Youngsville. The Rev. Louis Vu will conduct the funeral Mass.Readers for the funeral Mass will be Rhonda Sutton and Gloria Davis.Music will be provided by Jodi Bollich with the musical selection to include "The Prayer of St. Francis", "Amazing Grace", "On Eagles Wings", "Ave Maria" and "Be Not Afraid".Jay was past president of the Lions Club of Youngsville and the Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Youngsville. He retired from the City of Lafayette as Superintendent of Electrical Production in 1992. He served in the military at the 28th General Hospital. He served as a medic in the Korean War while he was stationed in France. He graduated from Youngsville High School in 1948 and he had a passion for golf.He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Dupleix Hebert, of Youngsville; his mother, Ida Hulin Hebert Landry, of Youngsville; his daughter, Margot Hebert Hasha, of Lafayette; a granddaughter, Reneé Hasha Pennington and her husband, Christopher, of Baton Rouge; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Victoria Pennington, of Baton Rouge, and Annika Sophia Pennington, of Baton Rouge.He was preceded in death by his father, Alphe Hebert; and one brother, John Carroll Hebert.Serving as pallbearers will be John Knox, Keith Dupleix, Jimmy Dupleix, Britt Melancon, Gerald Freeman and Phillip Gould.Honorary pallbearers will be Eldridge Carriere and his Army buddies, Burnley Ardoin, Nolan Thibodeaux, James Gibson Sr., Eddie Gauthreaux, Floyd Friloux, Rookie Champagne, Alfred J. Ledet, Ronald Fly, Donnell Naquin and Charles McAnally.The family would like to express a special word of gratitude to the entire staff of Hospice of Acadiana and especially to Jay's special sitter, Shirley Venable.Any monetary donations may be made in Jay's name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnson Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA, 70503, or to The American Alzeheimer's Association.Visitation will be observed from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and will continue from 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, until time of service.A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. this evening and at 9 a.m. Wednesday at David Funeral Home of Lafayette.David Funeral Home of Lafayette, 316 Youngsville Highway, (337) 837-9887, is in charge of arrangements
