Joseph Henry Mathieu, 81, of Hartford, died Sunday, (November 20, 2005). He was the beloved husband of the late Marie-Paule (Morin) Mathieu. Born in Waterville, ME, Mr. Mathieu lived in Hartford for over 60 years and was a member of St. Luke's Church, Hartford. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was retired in 1986 from Dunn & Bush Manufacturing Co. after 25 years of employment. Mr. Mathieu was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Anne's Council #6119, Newington Senior Center and the French Social Club. He leaves his five sons, Ronald Mathieu and his wife, Nicole Pepin, Paul Mathieu, Pierre Mathieu and his wife, Lise all of St. George DeBeauce, Quebec, Canada, Henri Mathieu and Michael Mathieu, both of Hartford; his two daughters, Theresa Linda Mathieu and her husband, Mike of Concord, NC, Doris Mathieu of St. George DeBeauce, Quebec, Canada; his six grandchildren, Carl, Lydia, Tommy, Jessica, Joseph and Emma; a great granddaughter, Noemi; many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his two brothers and two sisters. His funeral services will be held Saturday, 9:15 a.m. from the Fisette-Batzner Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Church. Interment, with military honors, will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Fisette-Batzner.Published in the Hartford Courant on 11/23/2005.
