Joseph E. Flanagan, formerly a longtime resident of Eastchester, died March 6, 2001 in Phoenix, AZ, where he had lived since 1990. He was born on July 21, 1912 to Thomas and Dorothy (Hartnagel) Flanagan in the Bronx, NY. Joe served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. In 1943, he married Rita Donohoe who predeceased him in 1995. He is survived by their three children, Patricia Halligan of Eastchester, Dorothy Flanagan of Phoenix, AZ and Thomas Flanagan of Amenia, NY. He is also survived by four granddaughters. Joe was active in the Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He also served for over 40 years as a member of the Eastchester Volunteer Fire Department.
